Lina Lechlech – African Studies Research Award
African Studies awarded International Studies graduate student, Lina Lechlech, the African Studies Research Award, providing $500 towards Lina’s research project on sexual assault services in Western Cape Province, South Africa.
Lina was elated to receive this award, saying, “This award will support my research in the Western Cape (South Africa) where I will be looking at post-rape care and justice by taking a survivor-centered approach. I will analyze specialized courts and clinics and identify ways to improve service delivery holistically to best meet survivors’ needs.”
Lina’s project “Sexual Violence and Restorative Measures in South Africa: Achieving Legal and Social Change for Survivors” was also awarded $2000 by Global Oregon, and $1000 from the George and Conni Slape Fellowship, which provides a professional development fellowship to at least two International Studies graduate students each year.
